IUC to present Cross-Regional Dialogues at the Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-7)


Join the IUC programme from 15-17 October in Penang, Malaysia at the Seventh Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF).

Since 1993, the APUF has gathered a vast array of stakeholders to discuss, share, and learn about innovative solutions to the region's urban challenges. In the framework of the seventh APUF, which will take place from 15-17 October 2019 in Penang, Malaysia, the IUC programme is organising a number of activities that will facilitate knowledge-exchange, capacity-building and action towards more sustainable urban development.

Leaders Dialogue on Urban Resilience – 16 October (09:00 - 10:30). In this high-level session, leaders from different stakeholder groups – spanning national governments, cities, academia, business, and more – will discuss the importance of resilience to build sustainable cities in the Asia-Pacific.

Deep Dive Session 2.2: Strengthening Urban Resilience through Circular Economy Approaches and Nature-based Solutions – 16 October (11:00 - 12:30). This technical session will highlight the importance of circular economy and nature-based solutions to address climate resilience challenges on a local level.

Urban Innovation Session, “An innovation journey to build smart and climate resilient cities” – 16 October (15:30 - 17:00). An interactive session will be held to promote innovation schemes that drive smart and climate resilient projects and initiatives on a local level.

IUC Urban Labs Arena – 15-17 October (09:00 - 17:30). Visit the IUC Booth at APUF's interactive exhibition area to learn about smart city projects and initiatives from several IUC cities across the world. The exhibition will showcase their experiences as Living-Labs working on city solutions and stakeholder engagement. On 15 October from 14:00-17:30, the exhibition will feature informal sessions on smart cities and the circular economy. On 17 October from 11:00-16:00, join us for an introduction to the EU urban agenda, EU urban projects, and for a roundtable discussion on climate planning and tools.

In addition to these session and the IUC exhibition booth, IUC Asia will hold interactive meetings and sessions as part of their clusters on Smart Cities and Circular Economy, and will hold a one-day training on Municipal Finance for Malaysian IUC Pilot Cities on 14 October.
