New manual shares experiences from IUC India cities

A lack of bankable projects and difficulties matching such projects to appropriate sources of funding are limiting sustainable and climate resilient development of Indian cities.

IUC India has produced a Manual for Financing Sustainable and Climate Resilient Urban Development in India with the aim to develop an approach to identify and pursue viable financing mechanisms for sustainable and climate resilient projects in Indian cities. This approach was developed through analysis of three pilot projects being taken on by Indian cities as part of IUC city-pairings with European peers, and two examples of pilots being pursued by India signatory cities to the Global Covenant of Mayors.

The Financing Manual has been finalised, and will be made public shortly. Stay tuned for updates and to see the examples from the IUC programme used to further support sustainable urban development worldwide.
