Achieving sustainable mobility on an urban scale is not only a question of technology and infrastructural change; it also requires a shift in mindset. By facilitating alternative modes of moving around our public spaces, such as public transport, car sharing and freight rail, as well as encouraging cycling and walking, we can make our cities cleaner, healthier and more pleasant places to live and work in.
Cities around the world are increasingly rising to the challenge, creating solutions that ensure the vital flow of people, goods and services in an environmentally sound way. By doing so, they are mitigating climate change and creating healthier cities with better air quality and more inclusive development.
The first in a series of IUC webinars will look at good examples and innovative mobility solutions. The webinar ‘Planning a sustainable city through smart and inclusive mobility’ will take place on Tuesday 26 June 2018 from 16:00 – 17:30 CEST. All with an interest in the topic are invited to join.
Cities participating in the IUC programme will share their experience of smart and inclusive mobility and elaborate on the challenges and opportunities in reinventing local mobility to make it more cooperative and inclusive. Participants will also be able to have their say during the questions and answers session.
