Supported by the European Union, International Urban Cooperation India project,the cooperation between Gwalior and Leuven (Belgium) is progressing. A12-member delegation from the City of Leuven headed by the Honorable Mayor, Mohamed Ridouaniis visiting Gwalior during 14 – 16 February, 2019 to meet with the Mayor of Gwalior,Mr. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar and the Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Vinod Sharma of the City of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The group comprised of representatives from Leuven Municipality, Chamber of Commerce Flemish Brabant, Leuven office (VOKA) and KatholiekeUniversiteit (KU) Leuven. The purpose of this exchange visit is to strengthen the cooperation based on a local action plan for the protection of cultural heritage that includes public & private heritage buildings, formulation of policy initiatives, sharing of best practices, etc..The delegation is visiting various heritage buildings in Gwalior city and is meeting with the relevant departments within Gwalior city mandated to form policies, implement programs and projects at the local level.On this occasion, the Honorable Mayor from Leuven has said, “This is indeed a great opportunity for Leuven to work with a very important city of India. We are delighted to be here and look forward to a sustainable partnership with Gwalior on many topics in addition to the present project on cultural heritage”The Mayor of Gwalior, Mr. Vivek Shejwalkar said, “We are very grateful to the mayor of Leuven city to come to Gwalior city. Gwalior and Leuven as partners have great potential to work on common areas of priority. We have a lot to share in the areas of urban development but on other related topics which includes social, cultural and other development aspects”
