IUC webinar to provide inspiration on making cities more circular

The IUC programme will hold the fifth webinar of its ongoing sustainable urban development series on 14th May from 09:30 to 11:00 CEST, titled “From a linear to a circular city - how to get started?”. Registration for the webinar is now open.

Focusing on improving waste management and shifting to a circular economy, this edition will feature speakers from cities Vijayawada (India) and Turin (Italy), and China.

Globally, cities produce 75 percent of green-house gas emissions and 50 percent of waste, while consuming 60–80 percent of our natural resources. This makes urban areas uniquely positioned to play a crucial role in influencing the reuse, recycling, recovery and upgrade of waste.

Many cities around the world are currently transitioning from the linear model of 'taking-making-disposing' to a circular model. To do so, it is necessary for cities to improve waste streams and prevent resources from becoming waste in the first place.

This webinar will explore challenges and best practices, providing inspiration on how to make your city more circular.
