Through the IUC programme, cities across Japan have entered into partnerships on sustainable development with counterparts from the European Union:
Theses cities are focusing their goals on increasing renewable energy and changing the behavior of citizens and businesses. To achieve these goals they need to create an Interdependency with regional development and begin raising awareness with regard to different target groups.
